Finding Last Date before today
I'm Trying to come up with a formula to return the last date before today with an extra criteria.
https://docs.google.com/ spreadsheet/ccc?key= 0AofFwgs4dUiZdHF5d3VIQTVZYWI2e kZqTmJ5MmFNaFE&usp=sharing
this array has dates before and after today with different people, I'd like to be able to get the last date before today for frank
Thanks!
---
I'd like to also be able to look up the data in the third column for a certain person and date
---
Sorry for the confusion. What I mean is the last date before today for frank, and the contents of column c for that date.
So it should return 1/25 and 'did a funny dance'
Since today is 2/5
If today were 2/10 it would return 2/7 and 'n/a'
---
the following solution was prompted because Alex was having difficulty implementing the solution I had provided earlier to his real data as he mentioned in the following

I've tried it in test file after test file and it keeps working perfectly, but for the life of me I can't get it to work on the actual data. I've removed any private information, here is the actual file:
The data on the 'gears' page columns A-F comes in from google calendar using an app script. The formula is needed on the'Daily Reports' sheet.
Thanks for your help!!
