How do I insert an image from Google Drive into a spreadsheet cell?
Hi all,
I have a Google Docs spreadsheet and an image in my Google Drive. Can I insert that image into a spreadsheet cell, so that it automatically scales if I resize the rows or columns?
Thanks all!

  1. Have had no success with this. See: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/docs/TblerSLtWOE

I have not seen any reference in Google's documentation about your step 2, and I'm not sure how to accomplish step 2 -- the image is uploaded to Google Drive but find no way to 'Upload the image in Google Drive to your Google Docs collection -- with conversion to Google Docs'

    Thanks

  2. Hi flyyboyy:

I have updated my blog post to include Sheet1a where I have uploaded a file to Google Drive with conversion ... then opened the file, copied the image URL and then used the IMAGE function to insert the image in cell A2.

    I hope this helps.

  3. Great stuff Yogi! I find Sheets hard to work with, but was finally able to enter a logo on an expense report with your good documentation on this solution. Only thing I am stuck with now is the URL of the logo image, but I suppose I could move it to a nonprinting page. Was not able to make the text of it white as I tried to do as a solution to hiding it. Ideas for not displaying the URL are welcome. Thank you!

  4. Hi Ann:

CONGRATS on being able to enter a logo on your expense report.

Now let us work on getting the text of the URL of white color ... this would be a two step process:

Let us say the URL of the image of your logo is in cell A1, then

    1) right click on cell A1
in the context based menu that pops up ... click on Remove hyperlink
    2) now change the color of text in cell A1 to white

    that should do it.

Try it and let me know how it goes.

  5. Hi Yogi,

This does not work. I can't copy the image file by right clicking (step 5).

    Perhaps they have removed this?

  6. Hi Jason:

The process does work ... I just checked -- see Sheet1b that I have added today (on May-01-2013.

So, have another look and tell me how it goes.
