Parse a numbered list string into multiple cells.

I have a string like "1 one 2 two 2 3 three $3 4 four not 3 5 five 500 6 123-456 7 7-7-7 8 808 lucky number" into:

1 one

2 two 2

3 three $3

4 four not 3

5 five 500

6 123-456

7 7-7-7

8 808 lucky number

I was hoping to use transpose with a regexextract but don't know what pattern to use.
