I am trying to print out company checks using Google Docs. I want everything to be very easy and plug and play.
Is it at all possible to have Google Docs spell out a dollar amount as it would be on a check?
For example turn $36.95 to "Thirty six dollars and ninety five cents"
I have it working on Excel as a macro, but can't figure out how to do it with Google Docs.
Thanks!
Thanks!

following is a solution to the problem
Thanks for the response! How do I actually use that formula to convert the number to text?
ReplyDeleteHow do I call it?
Hi Alex:
ReplyDeleteThe solution I have provided is formula based ... so let us say you key-in 36.95 in cell A2, then copy the formula in my blog to cell B2 -- the formula will result in thirty six dollars and ninety five cents.
This is an array formula, so you can type a number of amounts in column A, starting with row 2 down, and the single formula in cell B2 will spell out the amounts in corresponding rays of column B.
See the illustration in my blog post.
I hope this helps.
Cheers!

Hi Alex:
ReplyDeleteI have added an on-line calculator to convert an amount into dollar and cents in the following blog post:
http://yogi--anand-consulting.blogspot.com/2012/11/yogion-line-calculator-to-spell-out.html
for this one you an do the conversion on-line without having to copy my formula to your spreadsheet.
Check it out to see how this works for you.
Cheers!
