i've got three colums

one is the price - another is the VAT - the third is the net cost

is there a way I can make a function for the third column so that
the value of the first column will have the value of the second coumn
subtracted from it and the result automatically appear in third column?
---
ok - am working with a google spreadsheet (via chromebook)

I want to have an algorithm that deducts amount of column B from column A to give a net value in C

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
this is a very simple problem ... however since phil_d1111 was having a lot of difficulty with this I thought it was best to do an illustration ... and
just to avoid any ambiguity about Column designations, I have used FieldA, FieldB, and FieldC in the following illustration
