Sorting Issue
I am using a sheet that was created for me by another user.  Up until the last week it has been working wonderfully.  Last week, no longer allowed me to sort any of the data.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0At-TqrcM25CfdE5hcG9OX2NRcThSeUpyNnFUeHJDeXc#gid=8  Here is the sheet.  Data comes from a form.

When I enter new data via the form it shows up at the bottom of the form.(see lines 523 and down)  I want the form to be sorted alphabetically by column D (breed) then by column B (name).  When I click on column D and click on the Data tab the option to sort is greyed out for me.

Question1: How can I sort if it is greyed out?
Question 2: Is there a way to autosort the data when it comes into the sheet itself? (so I don't have to sort it later)

Thanks for your time!

Find the name of an item and pull the number on the column beside on the right
Hello Everyone,

I am almost bald because of this problem!

We are using the forms to enter pie orders to a spreadsheet but the orders can be several different pies in one column, i need to count each particular pie that can be in 4 columns (see attached)

Employee NameOrder Number:Pickup DATEPickUp TIMEPurchase 1QtyPurchase 2Qty 2Purchase 3Qty 3Purchase 4Qty 4
Pumpkin PieApple pieCherry Pie

Antino1234911/26/13AMPecan Pie1Pumpkin Pie2Coconut Custard1Apple Pie2

I need to figure out how to search for Pumpkin Pie in the Purchase columns and then get the quantity to the right of the found column.

So search Purchase 1 for Pumpkin Pie in the Purchase1 to Purchase4 columns and if found in any column, give me the total of the Qty1 thru Qty4.

is that possible?

if it doesn't find it - put a Zero or blank

please help,

thanks in advace,
Jorge Garcia

Querying to select and trim to only the first row matching criteria
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlDD-0aeaKbHdEF0dHBhU19UR3BSd0FpaWpIcFM5V0E&usp=sharing

Hello, I'm trying to work on querying submissions made from a Google Form so that only the most recent entry shows.

In the sheet I shared for this example, I want to make a function in cell B8 such that it only selects the row in columns A, B, & D that matches the value in A8.

As far as I can get would be:

=query('Submissions'!A2:D, "select A,B, and D where C=X-16")

But this will also add the second row that contains this value.  I also can't seem to figure out how to get it to reference A8 as X-16 instead of having to typing it in manually.

I don't know how to trim it or whatever, but I would really appreciate any help on this matter!

VLOOKUP() returning incorrect value
Using = VLOOKUP( "Salary",$A$1:B4, 2 ) to preform a search on this data:

Salary2000
Salary1000
Long Term
IRA Contribution-130
Yields: -130
Expected Value: 1000

Anyone else have a similar issue?
---
I need it to perform as Excel would, if you take the same data, same equation, different results. I don't want them to be sorted because they are in chronological order. I need the last instance of Salary that was introduced.

Calculating totals from form input using an array formula
I have a form where people are inputting a quantity of an item, each in a column.  I want to create an array formula that will take that quantity and multiply it by a price (different for each column) and have it create a total based on those calculations.  I'd like the array to do that automatically each time the form is submitted.  I've got an example here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhBia3HTZkAVdEV0U0dVYlRNZnl3d1dIOTd0TGptZmc&usp=sharing Any input on creating that would be great.  The price is indicated in the name of each column

Thanks!

Menko
